My dishwasher died mid-cycle, with a full load of dirty water in the base and a pile of dirty pots. What was I to do? Well, I asked around. I wanted a local expert, as I knew they would be cheaper than calling in the manufacturers. A friend recommended Lincs Appliances. I’m glad they did.
After giving the machine a thorough investigation they discovered that not only was the machine dead, it was a total write-off. The water seal had broken and water was dripping onto the motor. Apparently the machine should have cut off immediately as it was an electrical shock risk, but it hadn’t and the motor had continued to work despite being nearly an inch deep in water (which accounted for the strange smell we had been experiencing in the kitchen as well as the intermittent power failures in the downstairs ring main!)
Not wanting to be without a dishwasher (two kids, and a busy life) I asked them to find me a new one and fit it. I wanted a model with a better safety and running history and one that didn’t cost the earth. I told them how much I was willing to spend and they provided a couple of options and recommended one particular model. Needless to say, with their experiences in appliances, I went with their recommendation.
The new machine is far superior to my old model. My first dishwasher lasted all of 13 months (just past the warranty) – this new one has been running a good 4 years now and still shows no sign of wear!
As for the cost – it was certainly cheaper then calling out the manufacturers. I didn’t pay for initial diagnosis, nor removal of the old appliance. All I was charged for was the new machine and the installation. The advice and excellent customer service came free.
